As part of Cologne´s 16th Afrika Film Festival, FilmInitiativ Köln e. V. presents a selection of virtual reality (VR) productions from Kenya, Senegal and Ghana in conjunction with Cologne Public Library.
Virtual Reality technology positions itself between film, gaming, the fine arts and other disciplines. Most VR projects, however, are primarily created in industrialised western countries. FilmInitiativ Köln e. V. is committed to showing a more differentiated image of Africa. The accompanying program to Cologne’s 16th Afrika Film Festival is therefore offering a selection of VR productions from Kenya, Senegal and Ghana. Each of these works represents the vibrant, diverse and ever-changing cultural landscape of contemporary Africa. Exclusive insights into the development of these projects were presented at the 67th Berlinale in February 2017 under the header “Berlinale Africa Hub”.
