In Dakar, the budgetary restrictions imposed by the IMF are being felt. Idrissa loses his job. His wife, Viviane, takes over the family. Idrissa's pride as head of the family is put to the test. Their daughter, Aminata, is a student. She is in love with Moussa. Their plans for the future are also disrupted by the economic situation in the country. Faced with budget cuts in the national education system, student demonstrations break out in Dakar. Moussa sees no future in Senegal.
