Aïcha, who was widowed two years ago, falls in love with Albertus. When her husband died, a feud broke out between her four sons, sowing discord in their family life. Aïcha decides that Eid is the perfect opportunity to introduce her fiancé and tell her sons that she is planning to remarry, asking for their BARAKAT, or blessing in Arabic. Drawing upon a universal theme—how to move on from the death of someone you love—director Amy Jephta portrays the diversity of minority communities in South Africa. This comedy is the first Muslim feature film in Afrikaaps, a dialect with its roots in English, Dutch, Arabic, Malay and Afrikaans, produced in South Africa.
