DAHOMEY
Filmforum Ludwig Ticketshop
In 2021, 26 of several thousand looted works from the former kingdom of DAHOMEY (now Benin) were returned to their country of origin. From the Musée du Quai-Branly in Paris to Cotonou and a lecture hall at the University of Abomey Calavi, filmmaker Mati Diop documents a collective reflection on the postcolonial challenges of returning artworks to Africa. The film celebrated its world premiere at the Berlinale 2024 and was awarded the Golden Bear for Best Film.
