Not far from Antananarivo, the inhabitants of the village of Sitabaomba are threatened with eviction. The fertile land on which they live and work is now coveted by the ruling class, multinationals and foreign investors. Filmmaker Nantenaina Lova follows the struggle of the villagers to defend their farmland over several years. The documentary WHERE ZEBUS SPEAK FRENCH reveals the struggle against neo-colonialism and corruption in a country where the legacy of colonialism runs so deep that even the local draught animals - the zebus - have learned to take their orders in French.
