Growing up in an Afro environment where music was about many rhythms and instruments (tam tam, saxophones, flutes, etc.) didn't stop her from quickly becoming sensitive to music from other places and times, which she now explores with as much passion as the rhythms of her home country. This is reflected in her mixes, which have been described as bold, deep and powerful.
