Filmforum Ludwig Ticketshop
One day, Hassan fell asleep at the foot of a tomb. For almost forty years, he has remained there and has become the guardian of the Djellaz cemetery in Tunis. GARDIEN DES MONDES (GUARDIAN OF THE WORLDS), watches over the dignity of the inhabitants of this cemetery who no longer have a voice. In search of love and freedom, this man at the crossroads of two worlds opens his thoughts, his hopes, his doubts and his universe to the director Leïla Chaïbi. This intimate portrait is an invitation to reflect on the place of the afterlife and the living in this world.

After working several years as a camerawoman for journalism (France O, Nesma (Tunisia), Al Jazeera, MBC Egypt, Unicef US, etc.), Leïla Chaïbi began working for cinema. She started as a camerawoman for fiction, documentaries and magazines.
Since 2010, she has been developing her own film projects. Living in Tunis for a few years, she is interested in the question of identity in the arabic world. LA BRÛLURE, her first short documentary, paints the portrait of illegal immigrants who disappeared at sea, it later became a medium-length film, TOUS BRÛLÉS. Her film LA MAISON DES HOMMES, is an inventory of prisons in Tunisia. She then co-directed LE VERROU, a film about the magic ritual of the tasfih that aims to protect young girls' virginity. GARDIEN DES MONDES is her second feature length film.
