Montreal, 2011. Reynold Célestin is in palliative care, suffering from stomach cancer. Upon hearing the news, his daughter Vanessa, whom he has not seen in twenty years, agrees to visit him. Through contact with his daughter and her Haitian cooking, memories of his imprisonment in Haiti in 1974 resurface. LE DERNIER REPAS evokes the aftermath of Jean-Claude Duvalier's dictatorship (1971–1986) on an entire generation of Haitians and their descendants, marked by intergenerational trauma. In this first feature film, director Maryse Legagneur pays tribute to the courage and resilience of the survivors.
