ELINGA TEATRO 1988/2018

Paulo Azevedo’s documentary tells the story of a colonial building called Elinga, which acts as a barometer of Angolan society, bringing the art of theatre to the masses for over 30 years. The film portrays the day-to-day activities of those working in Elinga, their life stories and their future prospects with great sensitivity. In this way, the documentary evokes the issue of gentrification in major African cities, the banning of theatre, and its dynamics at the heart of a new Luanda.
