THE LAST SHELTER

he House of Migrants is a safe haven in the southern Sahara. It welcomes travellers resting before continuing their journeys or recovering from their misadventures. Esther and Kady from Burkina Faso have just arrived at the shelter, brimming with hopes and dreams. Natascha seems to have forgotten where she came from. Their time waiting at the shelter allows people to meet the other migrants but also to ask themselves honest questions about their journey and its dangers. In this documentary, director Ousmane Zoromé Samassékou gives us a new perspective on migration. THE LAST SHELTER depicts the cruelty of the migration system and calls into question the issues of exile and returning to one’s homeland.
