Wheelchair user Azeddine Nouiri has already won one Paralympics gold in the seated shot put. Now he has convinced his childhood friend Youssef to also attempt to qualify for the 2016 Paralympics in Rio. But disabled sport is given little importance in his homeland Morocco – the champion was promised funding by the sports minister but it never materialised. Azeddine therefore spends the time when he’s not training protesting in front of the ministry  – along with other disabled athletes.
Hind Bensari accompanies her protagonists at training, during their political engagements, and at the games in Rio, as she illustrates their unflinching determination to overcome not only their physical impairments but also the ignorance of a society where there is little room for inclusion. The result is a moving, compassionate testimony of friendship and solidarity, which has won awards at festivals including Toronto and Tangier.
