Sudan, Nuba Mountains: During the rainy season, all combatants in the Sudanese civil war are forced to cease their bloody battle. The ubiquitous mud forces the rebels to put down their weapons and temporarily return home to their families. Adnan is one such returnee. Following a fight with his girlfriend Lina, he has to leave his AK47 behind and fails to return to duty on time. The army commander Blues then issues a “kasha”, calling for truant soldiers to be caught and arrested. Adnan finds an ally in draft-dodging Absi. Together they attempt to evade the kasha and reunite Adnan with Lina and his assault rifle. AKASHA is Hajooj Kuka’s entertaining debut feature film.
